3 4 QUICK NEWS BITS ⏲️
The Persians: Lost with a Single Stroke

The Hercules Project is doing something you won't find anywhere else: staging a 2,500-year-old Greek tragedy, with Led Zeppelin, Oasis, and original songs blasting live alongside it.

The play flips the script on the Battle of Salamis (480 B.C.), telling the story from the side of the defeated Iranians. Think ancient drama meets rock 'n' roll.

Stick around after the show for a live conversation with local veterans about what it all means.

If you didn’t know, The Hercules Project is a Florida non-profit proudly serving veterans, first responders, and their families.

Catch the show tomorrow (Friday), June 19th, from 7:30–9:00 p.m. at Timucua Arts – The White House.

Father's Day Around Orlando: Put Down the Tongs, Dad

Someone hand that man a bourbon, because this Father's Day, Orlando's restaurant scene is pulling out all the stops so dad doesn't have to pull out the tongs.

Chef Akira Back's Salt & The Cellar at the Ette Hotel pairs open-fire premium steaks with Hillrock Estate and Old Forester 1920 bourbons.

Over in Celebration, Columbia Restaurant (Florida’s oldest restaurant, by the way) is serving a 14-ounce New York strip bathed in Jim Beam Black bourbon sauce alongside a Galician octopus starter that'll make dad forget he ever owned a grill.

And if dad's competitive streak runs deep, Kings Orlando is turning Father's Day into a sport, roll a strike on the first throw and he walks away with a free bowling voucher.

Dad's been firing up that grill for years. Let someone else handle the heat.

Orlando's Juneteenth Fair Is Part Block Party, Part Resource Bonanza

On Saturday, Orlando is throwing a free Juneteenth Community Resource Fair, and it's not your typical ribbon-cutting snooze fest. Think live music, a DJ, free food, and a kids' zone, wrapped around something genuinely useful.

Local government agencies, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community organizations will be on hand offering everything from health screenings to housing guidance to workforce development programs, a one-stop shop for Central Florida families, no appointment necessary.

Programming splits into two tracks: Wellness Access Sessions covering health, nutrition, and mental wellness, and Economic Opportunity Sessions tackling financial stability, homeownership, and civic engagement.

So yes, you can dance, eat for free, and leave with a mortgage counselor's number. Not a bad Saturday.

Orange County's Biggest Concert Day Is Totally Free

Forget ticketed venues and velvet ropes.

This Sunday, parks, coffee shops, transit stops, and even private living rooms across Orange County are opening their doors for one gloriously free day of live music.

Make Music Day started in 1982 when France's Ministry of Culture had a wild idea: just tell everyone to go outside and play. It worked.

The concept has since spread to over 1,000 cities worldwide, and this year, Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs is bringing the party home, with performances spanning jazz, blues, hip-hop, Latin, choral, and East Asian fusion.

I’ve even highlighted one venue, Orlando Family Stage, in the 3 FUN RECS section further down.
