3 QUICK NEWS BITS ⏲️
Your Halloween Plans Just Made Themselves

October belongs to Enzian.

The Maitland arthouse is treating the entire month like a calling, with 13+ films spanning 35mm cult classics, midnight movies, and one genuinely unhinged Wednesday night pitcher show series: Resident Evil, Evil Dead II, Frankenhooker, and Halloween II among them.

Eden Bar matches the chaos cocktail-for-cocktail, launching 13 original Halloween drinks on October 1st, each paired to a film on the calendar.

Attend enough screenings, collect enough punches on the Halloween punch card, and you're in the running for a $100 bar tab or an annual Enzian membership.

🎥 See the full lineup and grab tickets here. The month won't wait.

Ghost Stories, Tarot Cards, and a Party by the River

But hold on, October also belongs to Wekiva Island!

When the sun drops below the Wekiva River, the water turns black glass, Spanish moss stirs, and Wekiva Island becomes something else entirely.

The Island is filling the entire month with Halloween programming: ghost story nights with local historian Don Philpott, tarot readings and a beginner's workshop under the full moon, a Southern Tier beer tasting, and the new Cypress Cove Coven.

The main event lands October 24th with trick-or-treating and a costume parade for kids, then an adults-only party with live music from Atlantic Alibi and a costume contest with real prizes.

Halloween ends the only way it should: costumed, on the water, paddling toward Wekiwa Springs State Park.

Orlando Is Giving Like Dolly

What would Dolly do? Probably show up with an armful of books and a smile that could light up a room.

Last week, on September 25th, exactly one month after Dolly Parton's passing, Give Like Dolly Day invited communities everywhere to channel that same generous spirit. The Dollywood Foundation created the day to honor a legacy built on one simple belief: every child deserves a story.

Orlando Family Stage is all in, rallying toward one bold goal: 1,000 books for 1,000 young readers at the free Florida Children's Book Festival on February 20.
