3 QUICK NEWS BITS ⏲️
One Night in the Dome

This Saturday (October 10th), the Orlando Science Center is turning the lights down and the lasers all the way up.

Cosmic Concerts, a beloved OSC staple from the late 1970s through early 1990s, returns with three back-to-back shows inside the Dome by Dr. Phillips Charities: Fright Night at 6:30 p.m., Laser Zeppelin at 8:00 p.m., and Rocket Man at 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are cheap at 15 bucks each, sold separately, and seats are limited, so don't sleep on it.

Beer, wine, and concessions are on hand. The audio hits 30,000 watts. Kids under 12 might want to sit this one out.

The series wraps on December 12th. October 10th is your move.

Nobody Was Golfing There Anyway

For years, the former Lake Orlando Golf Course collected weeds instead of golfers. The fairways went feral. The sand traps surrendered. Nobody came.

That's over now.

The RoseArts District is claiming all 65 neglected acres, and it's not thinking small: 5,500 residential units at full build-out, 350,000 square feet of retail, and an economic impact study dangling nearly $2.6 billion in gross economic output.

Phase one brings 1,600 homes, 160 of them affordable, alongside trails, waterfront access on Lake Orlando, arts studios, and restaurants.

City officials say it'll help close Orlando's housing gap. Some neighbors have questions. Either way, construction has started and there's no going back.

🖱️ Check out the Rose Arts District, right here, if you haven’t already. It’s quite impressive.

Wanted: The People Behind the Bricks

Somewhere along Church Street in downtown, your name might be hiding in the pavement. And it's about to get evicted.

Back in the 1980s, residents bought personalized commemorative bricks to support the corridor's development. They were laid into the street, quietly collecting decades of footsteps ever since.

Now the City of Orlando is giving Church Street a major makeover, which means those bricks are finally coming up. From October 12th–17th.

City Ambassadors will be posted at Church Street and Garland Avenue to help original buyers track down their piece of history before construction rolls through. Unclaimed bricks get stored and recycled into future downtown projects.

Come find yours before someone else's boots do.

TOP 3 FUN RECS FOR THE WEEKEND 🍊
The Fab Cuatro. An Instrumental Tribute to The Beatles

Source: The Fab Cuatro

📍Aloft Orlando Downtown. 500 S Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32801. Map to this location.

🕐 Friday, October 9th, 8 p.m.

On October 9th, John Lennon's birthday, GRAMMY® Nominated Artist Wizzmer honors the music of The Beatles the only way it truly deserves: by letting it speak for itself.

The Fab Cuatro: An Instrumental Tribute to The Beatles, led by Music Director Michelle Jones, strips away the vocals and reveals something remarkable, the architecture of genius, laid beautifully bare.

The date is no accident. These songs have lived in us for sixty years. No lyrics needed. You already know every word.

Footloose: The Musical

🕐 Friday, October 9th through Sunday, October 11th, multiple showtimes

What kind of town bans dancing? Bomont does, that's who.

When a restless Chicago teen rolls into this tight-laced little community, he brings exactly the kind of trouble they were afraid of, and honestly? Good.

Footloose: The Musical pairs its Oscar-nominated score with bold new songs to remind us that this story was never really about the dancing.

It's about fear, forgiveness, and what happens when someone finally has the nerve to turn the music back on.
